We buy used jute coffee sacks from several sources, each sack is different in its design and imperfections, all of which contribute to the unique character of each finished product.
The sacks are then unpicked and washed by hand before being dried in the sun. This process can make the fabric rather crumpled so the sacks are ironed at this stage. This is also the reason why we recommend that thereafter products are spot washed only.
The other fabrics used in our designs are sourced from many different places, from charity shops in the UK to brocantes (flea markets) in France. We select pre-loved fabrics which complement jute for use in our designs with the emphasis being on natural fabrics such as cotton, wool and linen. These fabrics are then washed ready for use.
Then comes the creative bit, the jute and upcycled fabrics are combined to create a beautiful handcrafted product that is both unique and eco-friendly.
